You find yourself daydreaming. I need more time to get my work done. If I caught up on everything, I would be able to …
Time management is one of the biggest hurdles you face in real estate. An agent faces finding leads, nurturing them when you get them, showing houses, completing contracts, marketing listings, blog management, and the list goes on.
Best Laid Plans Fall to the Wayside
With all the best intentions, and sometimes with all the best tools at your disposal, work falls through the cracks. There aren’t enough hours in a day.
Good news is that you don’t need more hours, you need a better plan. With a little forethought, you can get more work done in less time.
Distractions are costly. Once you change your frame of thought, regaining your concentration can take 10 to 20 minutes and especially if you’re working on a complicated project. It can have quite an impact on our day affecting quality of work and timeframes.
Manage Your Emails – Don’t Let Them Manage You
There’s no getting around it, emails must be answered. Some are crucial to a well running business and some can wait. Getting a system in order that can filter your important ones from the less important will buy more time than you think.
- Create folders in your email client
- Within those folders, create sub-folders
- Filter your email to go into these folders and look for number of unread messages in the more important ones
- Then, schedule time each day to go through the less important messages – these have to be answered too.
Organize for Your Sanity
Ever realize at the 11th hour that you have forgotten a task? Trying to remember what needs to be done, hunting down pieces of paper with your tasks written down on them, or searching through endless emails for the details of a task cost you time.
So much more can be accomplished by using a project management system.
Asana is a great online program that I use. When I receive a task, it’s placed on my calendar with a due date. Tasks and deadlines are easy to see and checking them off is as simple as the click of a mouse.
