Feeling overworked with too much on your plate? This is becoming more and more common. What’s the answer? When done right, time off benefits you and your clients.
When you’re refreshed, you produce your best work. On the other hand, when you’re overworked, you will make more mistakes and can’t offer your best to your buyer and sellers.
Although overwork has a negative impact on your creativity, productivity, happiness, and health there are a number of reasons why many avoid well deserved time off.
Argument One: There’s No Way I Can Take Time Off
Some will argue that it’s impossible for them to take more time off when they’re already overworked. If you find yourself overworked right now, this will make sense. However, take the “overworked” out of the equation by considering using a virtual assistant.
With our help, you can have more time for yourself. Again, with more time for yourself, you are more refreshed, and your focus increases. In fact, haven’t there been times when you came up with an amazing idea while taking time off? Your mind is refreshed, you’re relaxed, and this incredible idea pops into your mind.
Argument Two: I Can’t Afford To
Short work sabbaticals recharge your creativity and put you in the position to offer the best to your clients. Yes, you can afford to take time off. You just need to delegate what needs to be done while you’re away, and enjoy your time off.
Argument Three: I’ll Come Back To Chaos
Some say that they know that more time off means happier clients but they feel they will come back to chaos. Not if you’ve chosen to delegate to the right person. You will need to make it clear to them that you need someone who can handle assignments as they come in.
Also, clarify that you’re counting on them to keep you away from the office and the computer by handling all that comes in that they can take care of. Make it clear that you don’t want to come back to disorder and confusion. You want to hit the ground running.
What Can I Expect
So you’re convinced and you want to let go, but what can you really expect?
- If you’re a real estate agent, leave a contact that your virtual assistant can get in touch with if the need arises. It should be someone who you trust to be dependable and knowledgeable. I did this for an agent, and we didn’t have to contact him at all the four days he was gone.
- Make it clear that you details about anything that needs your attention when you return to be put into an email. You will want only one email. In the above mentioned case, I sent an email with a simple 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 bullet point system. He knew who called with a referral, who wanted to see a home, what documents were needed from escrow on a home closing the following week, etc.
- Have your virtual assistant star or flag anything they think needs your immediate attention when you return. This is especially easy if you use Gmail.
Repeat and Enjoy
You’ll get better at it as you take well deserved time off. Each time, you’ll improve your system, and you can have your virtual assistant help you perfect the process. You’ll be delighted, and your customers will benefit from your time off, because you’ll return refreshed and ready to work. More time off does mean happier clients.
