Are you among those who have started a blog and lost interest? Do you mean to sit down and write a blog post, but get sidetracked easily? You’re not alone if this is the way you feel, however, there are specific traits of successful bloggers that we all do well to imitate.
Use Your Voice
There is a reason that I put this first. Have you even had your content stolen? Perhaps, it was from someone who thought there was no harm in doing so, as I experienced. Either way, when someone takes your content and uses it without proper attribution, they lose credibility and so does their blog.
On the other hand, when speaking with your own voice, you bring it down to your reader and you. There will be a ring of sincerity to what you write, and you gain credibility.
Regularity is essential if your blog is to be taken seriously. It doesn’t matter if it’s once a week, once a day, or once a month, just make sure that your readers can count on when you will be writing.
Another characteristic of successful bloggers is time of day. Choose a time of day and stick with that. Using the schedule function on your WordPress site makes it easy to schedule regular posts at specific times and dates.
You don’t have to keep all of your secrets to yourself. Share them, after all someone shared them with you. One of my coaches shared the above tip about regularity with me. I’m passing it on, as it’s turned out to be something that worked for me. It turns out that this one yet another of the traits of successful bloggers.
Write For Your Readers
The biggest mistakes that many bloggers make is to write for the search engines. Yes, you need a certain amount of good SEO practices, but there is one problem with writing for the search engines. They won’t be buying your products and services. Therefore, you must write for your readers.
Think like them. What will interest them? What questions might they want answered? Are you providing them with meaningful content? Then they will come back. Successful bloggers write for their audience.
As Google’s standards change, another trait of a successful blogger comes into focus. Continue to educate yourself. If you are using the same strategies as you were three years ago, you might be writing to an empty audience. Therefore, educate yourself. It’s one of the traits of successful bloggers.
